Dortmund Cricket Club has its beginnings in 1987 when a group of Sri Lankan and a few German cricket enthusiasts got together to play cricket like they did back home. Although they didn’t have the resources to purchase hard ball cricket equipment or hire suitable cricket grounds, they continued to play soft ball cricket wherever and whenever they could to keep their passion alive.
The club grew steadily over time, continuously attracting new members and in 1991 the club began taking part in cricket tournaments held around Germany, eventually leading to the club begin hosting tournaments in 1996 at Dortmund Mendeplatz. |

The 15th of November 2014 was a historic day for German cricket with the first of its kind GAN event taking place on the Saturday night in Cologne.
This Gala and Awards Night was organised by the NRW Cricket Union in order to help raise the profile of cricket in Germany and to acknowledge the achievements of those who have done so much for the sport in the country. Also recognised were the performances of teams and individual players in recent seasons while young players received awards for their outstanding progress with bat and ball. |

Dortmund won 2015 NRW GPL Masters
The hugely successful 2015 season came to an end with Bochum and Dortmund playing a tightly fought match in the Final.
Bochum batted first and managed to score 166 in 40 overs, due in large part to the efforts of Naeem, Shani and Kashif. Dortmund began with some unfortunate losses but Adil, Shebanand, Vasikaran managed to make some quick runs bringing Dortmund into the lead and allowing them to win the finals once again. The man of the match in this game was Adil who gave a stunning performance. |

We need to promote more cricket in our local community. DCC is planning for cricket awareness events in local towns.
